In the hallowed light of the up-coming holiday, I thought I'd share some of my favorite creepy-cool artists and images with all of you.

I have always loved ghost stories and horror movies, and artwork that touches on the macabre has been some of the most interesting to me.  In this type of artwork, viewers can get a pretty strong visceral response and maybe even if we're lucky, some aftershock nightmares...  'Tis the season!

Some creepy-cool places:

 

Rome is a city steeped in the history of the macabre. One of the places I was super excited to visit when I was there was the Cappuchin Catacombs (Catacombe dei Cappuccini). Here the remains of 4,000 Capuchin monks literally rest in pieces. Their remains have been used to decorate the underground crypt with vertebrae chandeliers, real-life skulls and cross-bones and robe-clad skeletons leering from the walls. Morbid fascination or respectful art? You’ll be the judge of that...

What an unbelievably beautiful and bone-chilling place.
