Choose Your Own Art Adventure

THEME: HARMONY

What is harmony?
Can color or shapes feel harmonious?
Do we live in harmonious times? Can art help to create social harmony?
How will YOU interpret the theme?

*Themes will change every 4 weeks

*******************************************************************

CAC members,

Think about the theme, Harmony and your interpretation
of it.  Decide what Center you'd like to work in for the next
4 weeks.  When you have an idea, fill out a Project Plan
(see below) and get it approved.  Your idea may change and
evolve as you work, sometimes that is a beautiful part of the process.  Use your time wisely and try not to procrastinate, as
you will be rating your efforts in an artist's self-evaluation
after the 4 weeks.
This program is designed to prepare you to work as an
independent artist, to self-critique, and for those who are
willing to put in the time and effort, create an artist portfolio.
Our common goal is to put on an amazing show in May, and last year's will be hard to beat.  LET'S DO THIS!

Thanks,
Ms. Jen

Creepy-Cool

****Creative Arts Club Members*****

Please take a moment to post your initials into the comments section
to let me know that you are receiving my posts.
YOUR club meetings and the time YOU have to MAKE ART each week
depend on ALL club members receiving this information before we meet.
Pass it on!
Thanks,  Ms. Jen

In the hallowed light of the up-coming holiday, I thought I'd share some of my favorite creepy-cool artists and images with all of you.

I have always loved ghost stories and horror movies, and artwork that touches on the macabre has been some of the most interesting to me.  In this type of artwork, viewers can get a pretty strong visceral response and maybe even if we're lucky, some aftershock nightmares...  'Tis the season!

Here are some of my favorites, I hope you enjoy:

Some creepy-cool places:

Rome is a city steeped in the history of the macabre. One of the places I was super excited to visit when I was there was the Cappuchin Catacombs (Catacombe dei Cappuccini). Here the remains of 4,000 Capuchin monks literally rest in pieces. Their remains have been used to decorate the underground crypt with vertebrae chandeliers, real-life skulls and cross-bones and robe-clad skeletons leering from the walls. Morbid fascination or respectful art? You’ll be the judge of that...
What an unbelievably beautiful and bone-chilling place.
